Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Hello, I just wanted to take a minute to talk to you about Abdominoplasty, or "Tummy Tuck". It seems strange that two of the most rewarding walks of life, carrying a child and weight loss, can leave you with such an unsightly feature.....a sagging tummy.  As we age, our skin looses elasticity and has a hard time recovering from these events. For most people, diet and exercise will not reduce the excess skin and surgery is the most beneficial solution. Abdominoplasty is an outpatient procedure that usually takes about 4 hours. During the surgery, an incision is made horizontally along the lower abdomen. After the incision is made, the doctor will remove excess fat by Lipo. Then, the upper and lower abdominal muscles will be tightened to help firm and flatten the abdomen. After the fat is removed and the muscles are tightened, the excess skin is removed and the incision is closed with sutures. As with all patients, recovery time varies from person to person. During the first couple of days, it will help the healing process if you get up and move around without standing up straight. In about one week, you will have your drainage tubes and stitches removed and most of your swelling and bruising will subside.  Most patients will go back to work in 1-2 weeks.  In 4 to 6 weeks, you should be able to return to normal activity pending on my recommendations. Abdominoplasty brings your stretched body back to it's normal shape and lets you wear clothes you weren't able to wear before, creating a whole new silhouette and a whole new you!
