Radiesse for Hands

By Dr. Suzanne Yee on January 20, 2010

When we think of fillers, we usually think of correcting lines and wrinkles on the face.  Instead of looking in the mirror at your face...look down at your hands.  Like our faces, our hands are affected by the "hands" of time.  As we age, our hands become less full and the volume diminishes.  Also, sun damage can leave our hands wrinkled, crepey, and discolored.  Well now there's a solution!  The filler, Radiesse, can be injected into hands to help fill diminished areas and rebuild you own collagen.  Radiesse combined with other maintenance procedures can help bring your hands back to the youthful appearance you desire. Radiesse is a dermal filler that instantly plumps and firms area's that have diminished in volume.  Radiesse also stimulates your body's natural collagen to help boost the effect of the filler itself.  It is often used in areas on the face to fill deep lines and wrinkles, but physicians are now using Radiesse to add volume to the hands. As our hands age; volume diminishes, joints become more visible, and veins begin to protrude.   By injecting Radiesse, your doctor can fill areas between the bones giving the appearance of an even, smooth surface.  It usually takes between 1 1/2 - 2 syringes per hand and can last up to a year.  Your doctor may also suggest different maintenance steps to prolong your results. Once your hands are rejuvenated, it is very important to take key steps to maintain the results.  There are various laser treatments and skin care products to help maintain lasting results and even reverse signs of aging!  Laser treatments such as Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and Erbium peels can vastly reduce age spots caused by sun damage.  There also skin care lines, such as NIA 24, that are specifically made to reverse sun damage and signs of aging.  These in conjunction with Radiesse can totally rejuvenate your hands and give you a youthful appearance. Lets face it, we use our hands more than any other part of our body.  Don't you think they deserve a little TLC?  See me first "hand" demonstrating this procedure on KATV (channel 7) on January 25th.  Younger hands make you look younger so don't delay making an appointment!
